Bangkok to Chiang Mai

Yesterday me and Isabella checked out of Sawasdee Smile Inn on Khao San Road, and planned to head up to Chiang Mai. We had quite a chilled out day and didn't really explore too far from the hotel.

We left our bags in the hotel lock up and got a taxi to Hualamphong Railway Station to buy some tickets for our overnight sleeper train. Bit of a cock up, we booked our accommodation online for Chiang Mai but the train was fully booked and was for the next few days. Only other option was the bus, which was actually a shorter journey. Trouble with the bus was that it was 5:45pm when we found this out, but it left at 7pm. The traffic was mental in Bangkok. We bought the ticket anyway and got a taxi back to Khao San. The taxi got stuck in traffic for 10 minutes so we got out and walked/ran to the hotel, got our bags and tried to find another taxi. We ended up getting back to the Bus Station at dead on 7pm.

We arrived in Chiang Mai this morning at about 5am, and its noticably cooler in the north. Me and Isabella also had our first ride on a Tuk Tuk which wasn't scary as I was expecting but they don't drive as mad here either. The hotel is really nice too, much better then the one in Bangkok. Cleaner, more friendly and it has a swimming pool!

  1. Matt and Isabella, Just because you are traveling doesn't mean you don't have to pack your clothes away! ;)
