Ko Lanta National Park

We're really enjoying Ko Lanta and don't want to leave! Today we got up at about 9am and had breakfast at our resort, then hired another bike to do some more exploring. We stepped it up a bit today and went for a slightly more expensive bike. Fevrier, our resort, only had this one bike left and we couldn't be bothered to go and try and find a cheaper one else where, plus they did us a good deal. It's still a 125cc but it's a brand new Honda with all the gadgets, like stop-start!

So we hopped on the bike and headed south to the Ko Lanta National Park. The island itself is only 30km's long so the park isn't huge, but it has a beach, lighthouse, bit of forest and the main attraction for tourists is the monkeys. We thought we would love seeing the monkeys but they are really aggressive little shits! Three of them ran at Izzy while hissing and one of them jumped at me while I took his photo. One of the National Park employees explained to us they are angry unless you feed them, and that they get fed up of people taking their photos. Needless to say we quickly moved on to see what else was around.

At about 3pm we went back to the Lanta Welfare Centre to take some more dogs out for a walk, this time we had two! We were given Dolly again and also joined by another similar sized dog called Pepsi! She was a lot more affectionate than Dolly, but also very nervous. I think she must have been beaten by her previous owners because when I would go to stroke her she would cower, and only relax once she realised we were being friendly. Check out Pepsi's purple/blue tongue!

The heavens opened on the way back from the Welfare Centre so we stopped for another awesome Thai lunch.

This evening we sat around chatting again to Lek and Malay, the owners of Fevrier Resort. They truly are some of the nicest people we have ever met, so generous and welcoming. If you ever visit Ko Lanta don't bother checking reviews and hunting around for some good accommodation, just stay at Fevrier. It's so great here and has a really nice chilled out atmosphere, we are thinking we'll probably spend at least a few more days here.

  3. Yeah not sure what it is, but it looked cool! I didn't bring my 50mm, only my fisheye and my standard 18-70mm (that photo was obviously the 18-70mm) :-)
