Mud Baths of Nha Trang

The weather still isn't scorching sunshine, so me and Isabella decided to visit the Mud Baths of Nha Trang. We read some reviews online that they were quite nice on an overcast weekday (apparently they can be too hot on a sunny day and too busy at the weekend). We jumped in a taxi as it's about 4 or 5 miles away. There are various options to choose from with various prices, we decided to treat ourselves and go for the top package which included a private mud bath, private mineral bath, massage, watermelon and bottled water, jacuzzi, and the swimming pool. The first stop is the mud baths which are deep wooden baths which they fill with warm muddy water for you. (Just before we came on our travels I bought a little Fuji water proof point-and-shoot camera which I took to the baths and managed to get some photos).

The mud starts to settle and stick to you and your swim shorts, so after 20 minutes or so in the mud, you take a hot mineral shower which also gave me a chance to wash off my now muddy camera! Next one of the staff directed us to our own hot mineral bath, where he added some infusion bags to the 40c water. They are cloth bags filled with herbs and made it feel and smell like we were sitting in a cup of chai tea. We were meant to spend 45 minutes in here but both of us had to get out a little earlier than that because it was so hot it makes you dizzy! Even it was a scorching day it would have been horrible, but todays overcast weather meant we could get out of the water and cool down.

After 45 minutes in the mineral bath area some masseuses came and massaged our feet, legs, arms and necks. They kept telling Izzy how beautiful she is, and how handsome I am... then they dropped in the conversation if we wanted to pay for more massaging. It was a much more relaxing experience than the massage we had in Thailand, and we both felt really chilled out when they finished, so next onto the jacuzzi then the pool. Looks like we'll be spending christmas in Nha Trang now as it's already the 20th, but we're thinking of moving further south in search of sunshine for New Years.
